On April 1 Lauren E Daniels presents her work The Serpent’s Wake: A Tale for the Bitten, to the Monday Night Creative Forum.

This is a fairy tale for adults and young adults recovering from trauma. Revealing a journey from victimization to personal sovereignty. This story traces opportunities for growth as catalyzed by trauma. Inspired by the shamanic practice of soul retrieval and the psychological process of integration, this fairy tale calls all the broken pieces of self to wholeness again.

This is magical realism with a healing function. When I read it I considered it the best thing I’d read since Keri Hulme’s ‘The Bone People’.
